Injection (2022)

written for the Aspen Music Festival

Processes in music sometimes bear an uncanny resemblance to those that exist nature. In this work, my goal was to conceptualize the flowing of substance through the human body. The complex weaving highway of vasculature is reflected in the cascading and viscerally interwoven lines throughout the orchestra. Gradually, the voices of the orchestra spiral around each other and blend into a single sonority. In the same way that all veins lead to the heart, every note of "Injection" leads to a singular, ultimate fate.
